Topps core business is
resurfacing, new construction or paving over existing gravel
parking lots and roads in the metropolitan area. Each project is
bid based on traffic load and the customers long term or
short
term expectations.
For heavy traffic areas
we recommend using a base mix which contains a larger aggregate
of rock for a stronger surface. A second layer of asphalt called
the “surface mix” is then placed over the top of the base mix.
This is a long term paving solution for heavy and industrial
traffic.
The standard or minimum
thickness for average or lightweight traffic is six inches of
rock with three inches of asphalt.
With a detailed written
scope of work and aerial map ( Google Earth View ) showing
specific areas for construction, Topps will email a pdf file
along with sending a hard copy estimate in the mail to each
customer.
Topps does resurface,
excavate and repave, or install new residential driveways.
Resurfacing over
existing asphalt usually requires some excavation work which is
most often preformed with a
milling machine. On roads and
parking lots this if often required to help reduce trip hazards
where asphalt butts up against existing concrete.
Milling is
also required to help improve water run-off, or at least to
maintain existing drainage. Driveways normally require milling
in front of garage doors when resurfacing to maintain a
necessary thickness of asphalt while paving flush with the
existing concrete pad.
